Washington Square is a 42,000 square-foot, three-story
mixed use property located in the heart of downtown Wausau on the Third
Street Pedestrian Mall. Tenants include an eclectic mix of boutique
shops, a day spa, a coffee house, Freddy's Mexican and More restaurant, as well as a satellite U.S. Postal Station, and
one of the few Wi-Fi hotspots in Wausau for mobile Internet access. Office
space in the building provides tenants with convenience access to shopping
and dining options. The building's interior architecture has immense
visual appeal and includes a courtyard, three-story atrium, hardwood
floors and immaculate common areas.
Washington Square has undergone a number of renovations over the past century,
including a complete makeover completed in 1982 to coincide with the construction
of the adjacent regional shopping center—Wausau Center Mall.
Washington Square is an integral element of a renovated
downtown development that covers one and a half
blocks. In deference to the unpredictability of
Wisconsin weather, it offers tenants and clients
access to the adjacent Heinemann Building, Gateway at Washington Square, and the upcoming Palladian development.
Washington Square is a focal point of the downtown community, earning an
Award for National Excellence from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
